The Ministry of Health put Healthy Aging Centers (YAŞAM) into service in 180 healthcare facilities in 54 provinces.
In line with the circular published last month with the signature of Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca, the Healthy Aging Centers are being put into service throughout the country.
These centers have already started to provide services for people aged 80 and over in 180 healthcare facilities in 54 provinces of Türkiye. It is planned to expand the centers to 81 provinces in a short time, and to expand their scope to serve people over the age of 65 in the next stage.
The aims of the centers are to facilitate and support elderly people's access to healthcare services, to provide medical follow-up and, when necessary, to provide remote healthcare services, examination and consultancy services.
204 field teams started home visits for the elderly people
The Healthy Aging Centers, where physicians, nurses, healthcare personnel for elderly people and medical secretaries work, play an active role in determining the health needs of the elderly people at home and accordingly creating medical care plans.
In this context, elderly people are evaluated by home visits according to their conditions, and the treatment program they need is prepared by the physiotherapist through measurements and evaluations for physiotherapy and rehabilitation.
Within this framework, the Ministry has formed 204 field teams so far, and 137 specialist physicians and 119 general practitioners have been assigned to these teams.
Making outpatient clinic appointments for the elderly people, whose needs such as medical dressings, injections and catheter changes are met, and transferring them from home to hospital and vice versa when necessary, are among the services offered by Healthy Aging Centers.
Remote healthcare services will be activated with Healthy Aging Centers
On the other hand, the Ministry of Health will launch the remote healthcare services called "Telemedicine" first in Healthy Aging Centers so that the elderly people can receive healthcare services without having to go to the hospital in some cases.
In this way, it will be possible to obtain reports and prescriptions remotely, especially for follow-up and chronic patients.
The telemedicine system is planned to be implemented in Family Medicine Centers and outpatient clinics at hospitals after it is put into service in the Healthy Aging Centers.
