Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca stated that a new pilot scheme of Healthy Aging Centers (YAŞAM), which provides services to people aged 80 and over, has been started at Antalya Atatürk State Hospital and that they aimed to expand this project across the country as soon as possible.

Minister Koca shared on his social media account about YAŞAMs, which have started to be established within hospitals throughout the country for the health care of the elderly population.

Koca, who also included the video in which the pilot scheme carried out in Antalya was introduced in his share, stated:

"A new pilot scheme of the Healthy Aging Centers (YAŞAM), which we have started to establish for the healthcare services of the increasing elderly population, has been put into practice at Antalya Atatürk State Hospital. We plan to expand the YAŞAM project, which aims to facilitate the access of individuals aged 80 and over to healthcare services, to ensure that they receive healthcare services at home or where they are, and to organize their treatment when needed, across the country in a short time.”

“We provide transport from home to hospital and vice versa when necessary”

Sharing information about the Healthy Aging Centers in the video, Atatürk State Hospital Chief Physician Specialist Dr. Recep Yıldırım emphasized that YAŞAM teams visited the elderly at their homes and that they aimed to facilitate access to healthcare services for individuals aged 80 and over with these visits.

Yıldırım said, "The needs of our elderly people are determined during the visits and their needs are met at their homes. We aim to ensure their transportation from home to hospital and vice versa when necessary, and to coordinate and prioritize outpatient services within the hospital for them. For this purpose, we carry out these services with our two specialist physicians, two nurses, an elderly care technician, a gerontologist and a medical secretary. Our target population is forty-five thousand throughout Antalya. We believe that we will reach our target population with the integration of other hospitals.”

Geriatrics Specialist Dr. Serdar Ceylan, responsible for the center, also stated that 25 elderly people had been visited at their homes until then, and all their life activities and cognitive functions had been comprehensively evaluated during those visits.

Münübe Damyan, a relative of a patient visited by the YAŞAM teams at their home, expressed her feelings by saying, "Our doctors came to our house, we are very pleased and happy with this service, we thank you."
