Health Minister Dr. Fahrettin Koca answered journalists' questions about the agenda after the Presidential Cabinet. Minister Koca announced that they are working with the Ministry of Interior on a system that includes an interim warning before the white code in order to prevent violence in hospitals.

Concerning the "Second White Reform" period initiated in health, Dr. Koca said that "we aim to increase the number of security personnel and security guards mainly in our hospitals” and continued his words as follows:

“We are working with the Ministry of Interior on an interim warning and forewarning system before the white code. As you know, the judicial and law enforcement process starts immediately in the white code, but this new system will provide a warning in case there is a risk of violence or an act of violence. Thus, this system will activate hospital security and relevant administrators before the act of violence takes place, aiming to prevent the violence.”

Reminding that he sent a letter to healthcare professionals, Minister Koca stated that they received nearly 45 thousand e-mails after this letter.

Emphasizing that they received suggestions from the employees regarding the working conditions, especially the action plan to combat violence, Dr. Koca said that these issues will be handled by the relevant deputy ministers and general managers.

Base wages of healthcare workers

Dr. Koca also stated that “As you know, we have made many regulations including adoption of malpractice law, classification of the violence against healthcare professionals as catalog crimes, provision of fixed base wages and incentives for every employee, and limitation of the duration of shifts with maximum 24 hours. As a matter of fact, there are still other regulations that need to be made. Concerning payment of the retirement wage of healthcare professionals based on the fixed wages, this has yet to be achieved. We are working to raise the relevant rates to a reasonable level.”
