Health Minister Dr. Ahmet Demircan attended and gave a speech during the event of Midwives and Nurses Day organized in a hotel in Ankara and stated that human was the most valuable creature of the world and serving to humankind and relieving its pain was the most precious work.
Underlining that health was a precious service, Dr. Demircan said that the relevant services were built upon information, experience, effort, sacrifice and art.
Health Minister defined the profession of nursing as dedication of a life time to saving lives and the midwifery as “a very sacred profession welcoming the long-expected cute guest and witnessing the first breath. So we cannot thank them enough.”
18 thousands healthcare professionals will participate in the health army
Health Minister Dr. Demircan added:
“We are taking steps to complete the number of the healthcare professionals. This year, we acted to employ more healthcare professionals compared to the previous years. We are employing 27 thousands midwives, nurses and health technicians. We completed the procedures for 9 thousands and obtained permit for 18 thousands from the Ministry of Finance. It is going to be announced on the official website of OSYM (Student Selection and Placement Center). 18 thousands healthcare professionals will participate in the health army early June. Later on, we will employ 19 thousands health workers without delay. As a result, we will relive the understaffed areas this year and the next year.”
Mandatory service of the physicians will end as of 2023
Underlining that the need for practitioners is about to be met, Dr. Demircan made the following statements:
“According to our calculations, mandatory service of the physicians will end as of 2023. Because the problem of understaffing will be settled. Henceforth, vacancies will be announced and physicians will go wherever they wish. As there is understaffing now, we have to apply mandatory services. The need for specialist physicians will also decrease towards 2030s. Since sub-specialties have increased, it requires more time to meet the vacancies.”
At the end of the program, Health Minister presented certificates to the participants and a photo was taken together.
