The Minister of Health Dr. Fahrettin Koca delivered a speech at the opening of “HIMSS EURASIA 2021” in Antalya.
Minister Koca, at the opening of the ”HIMSS Eurasia Conference and Exhibition", expressed his content to host the event, which Turkey leads as a strong international player.
Stating that it was demonstrated once again that the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, which Turkey had been fighting with great dedication for almost two years, was the most important priority for all countries, Koca added:“First of all, we have experienced how effective health informatics and technologies are in combating the pandemic and are one of the most fundamental tools for implementing measures, and for decision-making. We have felt the benefits of our digital health infrastructure in the most pronounced way in Turkey's fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. In this process, we have never encountered any challenges such as lack of service capacity, medical supply chain disruptions, or operational weaknesses experienced in many developed countries. We have taken rapid action and increased our physical capacity, number of beds, and intensive care beds. We have rapidly commissioned two new emergency hospitals."
"We have many applications"
Koca pointed our health-related developments and continued:"We are an exemplary country in terms of health information and digitalization in health. All available services are integrated and we have many applications available for the use of our people and our health workforce. In terms of digital hospitals, there are only 5 hospitals at HIMSS level 7 in Europe, excluding the ones in Turkey. Whereas in Turkey, we have a total of 5 level 7 hospitals, namely Tire State Hospital, Yozgat City Hospital, Ödemiş State Hospital, Bahçelievler State Hospital and Isparta City Hospital. In addition, 66 hospitals have reached level 6 by completing validation procedures.I want you to know that this nation is always ready to share every good service it has developed with the whole world."
Stating that cooperation will continue much stronger for both Turkey and the countries in the region, Koca wished that the 3-day HIMMS Eurasia event, will be beneficial.
After his speech, Minister Koca presented ”TÜSEB Aziz Sancar Science, Service and Encouragement Awards."
About HIMSS Eurasia 2021
It will offer a platform for cooperation and consultation with Turkey and guest countries in the field of information and technology in health. The meeting will gather health managers and IT professionals.
HIMSS Eurasia, which will be held as a hybrid event between November 17-19, 2021, will offer the opportunity to follow current developments in the health sector and explore possibilities in the field of health.
In this context, the expo, where digital hospital, e-health, smart systems and technologies in health, new technologies, artificial intelligence and advanced applications will be exhibited, will bring together health informatics companies, health managers from the public, private sector and academia and health information technology professionals.
