Health Minister Dr. Ahmet Demircan attended the 2nd Workshop on Problems of Specialty Branches of Medicine.
Representatives of the professional health organizations and officials of the Ministry of Health attended the workshop which was organized in Bilkent Campus of the Ministry.
During his speech, the Health Minister touched upon promising results of the first workshop and added that “By working in such associations voluntarily, you actually say that ‘I am here to develop my profession, take the problems seriously and find solutions and spend my time and energy for this purpose.’ I especially thank you for this.”
Dr. Demircan stated that before stepping in the managerial duty, he also had watch duties every other day and he was also familiar with the problems of the profession and added “As the Great Leader Atatürk said, the Turkish medicine sector has the qualifications to entrust our lives.”
Stating that there could not be any interruption in the provision of health services, and services should be available on 24-hour basis since there was no alternative, Mr. Minister further expressed “We are getting great returns in the field of health. We do not aim to reach the modern civilizations but to get ahead of them. We target to carry our profession beyond the highest standards of the world.”
“We aim to produce pharmaceutical products from the molecule”
Dr. Demircan said that 80% of the pharmaceutical products were manufactured locally and added “Even if the rate is high, we actually target to produce pharmaceutical products from the molecule. Thus, we will finish external dependency and produce our own pharmaceutical products.”
Health Minister Dr. Ahmet Demircan took part in the sessions of the workshop as well and answered questions of the healthcare professionals.
