Minister of Health, Dr. Fahrettin Koca, had a meeting with Nihat Özdemir, President of the Turkish Football Federation, at the Ministry of Health.
In his statement, Koca noted that it had been a long time since the two met and provided information to Özdemir with regard to future plans.
Offering information about the Ministry's efforts and the current situation of the pandemic, Koca continued:
"The fight against the coronavirus is still the main agenda item in the whole country and all other issues are discussed from the perspective of this pandemic. In today's meeting, we have not received a demand for the continuation of matches. And the Ministry of Health did not offer any suggestion. This meeting was focused on exchange of views.
Continuation of leagues is a decision to be taken by the Football Federation itself. If requested, healthcare-related measures can be reported to the federation after consulting the Scientific Committee. I would like to send my best to all football fans, who have had to put off their excitement and now see that some rules of life are changing."
