Minister of Health, Dr. Fahrettin Koca, delivered a statement following the Coronavirus Scientific Committee meeting.
In his speech, Koca said that the fight against the pandemic was a fight againts the greater good, and congratulated everyone who contributed to it.
Pointing that the pandemic remained to be a serious issue for the humanity, Koca added, "The disease does not seem like it is going to be off the agenda. And it is also not possible for us to allow the disease to take a control over our lives. The best way is to find a common solution by taking some measures about our daily lives. This is the new criterion for success."
"They need partners and supporters"
Adding that the healthcare personnel had been appreciated many times thanks to their selfless efforts during the course of the pandemic, Koca said, "They are still working very hard and now, they need partners and supporters. Each and every person being mindful of the rules is a hero. We have to be among the heroes to save lives by preventing transmission. This is the only way for us to protect our lives."
Wearing a mask is mandatory in more than 60 provinces
Reminding the fact that wearing a mask was mandatory in more than 60 provinces, Koca added that the role was receiving a lot of supports.
Noting that masks were single-use and must be disposed of after wearing, Koca continued, "In many cases, only one measure is said to be enough. We should wear a mask and practice social distancing at the same time."
"Let us face the threat with measures"
"As mobility increases, we start to realize that more youngsters are carriers. Mild disease cannot be an excuse, they have the possibility to transmit it to others, said Koca and added,"We are losing the upper hand, which we gained by staying home and protecting the elderly. We have to assume responsibility and follow the rules strictly. Any uncontrolled act can be harmful enough to cause a loved one to die. Let's learn some lessons from our experiences and face the threat with measures."
