Police officer Fethi Sekin, who was from Elazığ province of Türkiye, was martyred in the armed conflict with the members of the separatist terrorist organization in Izmir on 5 January 2017. Courthouse employee Musa Can, who was wounded in the attack, was also martyred and 9 people were injured. Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca published a commemorative message on the death of Martyr Fethi Sekin. “We commemorate our martyred police officer Fethi Sekin, who did not give way to terrorists at the cost of his life on 5 January 2017, with mercy and respect. The City Hospital in his hometown, Elazığ, bears his name. In order to be worthy of this name, we do our best in the health services provided to our fellow citizens. Today we commemorated him with our patients from Elazığ.”
