Healthy Aging Centers Workshop was organized by Ankara Provincial Health Directorate at Etlik City Hospital Congress Center. The aim of the workshop was to enable the centers, which were established to support individuals aged 80 and over to lead an active, productive and healthy life, to operate effectively and to achieve a structuring based on solid foundations, and to ensure unity of practice in terms of functioning of their units. In his speech at the opening of the workshop, Ali Niyazi Kurtcebe, Provincial Health Director of Ankara, said that a new process was initiated by the Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca after the Covid-19 pandemic. Stating that many new and pioneering practices were started in this period called "White Reform", Kurtcebe reminded that many regulations were made regarding the prevention of violence in health, malpractice, improvements in social and personal rights, and patient care processes. Kurtcebe emphasized that Healthy Aging Centers are one of these new practices. Kurtcebe noted that factors such as the cost of running a nursing home and the separation of elderly individuals from their social environment are increasing the importance of home health care, and added, "We have approximately 50 thousand patients actively benefiting from home healthcare services in our city as of 2023. 19 thousand of these patients are 80 years old and over, and 23 thousand are 65 years old and over.” Kurtcebe also reminded that it was instructed to establish the Healthy Aging Centers and facilitate access to healthcare services for citizens over the age of 80, with the circular published by the Ministry of Health in March. Kurtcebe, who wants the Healthy Aging Centers to be a platform aiming at providing effective and efficient healthcare services, said, "Healthy Aging Centers were established in 26 healthcare facilities across Ankara. In order to effectively provide healthcare services, it is important to ensure unity of practice regarding the functioning of Healthy Aging Centers and to ensure a structuring based on solid foundations. We aim to ensure that the Healthy Aging Centers operate effectively and efficiently and provide long-term, quality healthcare services." Chief physicians of the hospitals with Healthy Aging Centers and the physicians in charge of Healthy Aging Centers attended the workshop.
