"Future Health Technologies-Genomics Congress", organized by the Health Institutes of Türkiye (TÜSEB) within the scope of Future Health events, started in İstanbul. At the congress held in İstanbul, leading experts gave information about the "Türkiye National Genome and Bioinformatics Project", supported by the Strategy and Budget Office and carried out at TÜSEB Aziz Sancar Research Center in line with the "Century of Türkiye" vision. At the congress attended by many scientists from around the world who have a say in genome, "one of the brightest fields of the future", the current status of genome studies carried out around the world was discussed. Making a statement about the "Türkiye National Genome and Bioinformatics Project", TÜSEB President Prof. Dr. Erhan Akdoğan said that TÜSEB carried out studies in the field of health, science and technologies in Türkiye, together with 9 scientific institutes and various R&D support units. Stating that they also support health-oriented projects in academia, private sector and other public institutions, Akdoğan explained that this project is carried out within the Turkish National Genome Center of TÜSEB, where genome researches are carried out. Akdoğan said, "Genome research is extremely important for the development of drugs for the early diagnosis and treatment of diseases such as rare diseases and cancer." Stating that studies were carried out within the scope of this project in terms of revealing the genetic characteristics specific to the country's population, Akdoğan noted that these studies ensured that people's quality of life was increased. Leading experts explained how the researches on the project were carried out at the congress. Türkiye Genome Project Data Sharing Portal Introduced Within the scope of the congress, the Türkiye Genome Project Data Sharing Portal was introduced and made available. The portal, which includes variants belonging to 557 healthy individuals, will contribute to faster diagnosis of diseases and the development of more effective treatment methods by separating genetic changes specific to Türkiye. The portal will be used by all scientists working on rare diseases, chronic diseases, cancer, infection patients and personal medicine. It was reported that Türkiye's genome map was prepared for the first time and that it would expand over time thanks to this portal.
