Turkey ranked the first in Europe with the HIMSS EMRAM 6 stage awarded to 163 hospitals in 2017. Deputy Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health Dr. Şuayip Birinci received the award on behalf of the successful hospitals in HIMSS Europe’18.
Addressing the whole spectrum of the digital health ecosystem, HIMSS Europe’18 brought together the health IT experts, hospital managers and sales managers in Barcelona on 27-29 May. Turkey was a hot topic during the HIMSS Europe’18 since she has the highest number of hospitals with EMRAM 6 stage.
Turkey ranks the first in Europe with the digitalized hospitals
Turkey ranked the first in Europe with the HIMSS EMRAM 6 stage awarded to 163 hospitals in 2017. In the recent years, Izmir Tire Hospital obtained the EMRAM 7 stage, the highest level in HIMSS EMRAM grading criteria. Among the first 10 countries of Europe, Turkey became the most successful country with 1 hospital holding stage 7 and 163 hospitals holding stage 6.
Turkey’s leadership is beyond this. After the USA, there are a total of 70 hospitals worldwide with HIMSS EMRAM 6 and 7 stage while Turkey, alone, has 164.
Another award from ESİM Project
The Turkish Ministry of Health was among the three finalists with its two projects, which created great repercussions. The Turkish Ministry of Health received the Innovation Award with the “Unimpeded Health Communication Center (ESIM)” Project. The ESIM provides services 7/24 in sign language in order to ensure access of the disabled citizens to the health services. Available free of charge on the mobile markets, ESIM offers live interpreting services for the persons with hearing disorder while calling 112 ambulance center, getting appointment from the Central Appointment System and during medical examinations.
Deputy Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health Dr. Şuayip Birinci received the award on behalf of the successful hospitals in HIMSS Europe’18 and thanked to all directors and personnel of those hospitals. Dr. Birinci said that this certified success of the public hospitals is very important and it sets Turkey as a role model for all countries in the region and the other developing countries.
Turkey is becoming the health IT base of the region
Recoding very important achievements in the field of health, Turkey is becoming a health IT base with both the performed IT projects and the ongoing city hospital investments. In this regard, Turkey will host the HIMSS’18 Eurasia and lead the health information, digital hospital, smart systems, e-health and m-health projects in Europe, Asia, Africa and the Balkans.
