The first open heart surgery was performed in Elbistan State Hospital, a first in Elbistan. An open heart surgery was performed for the first time in Elbistan State Hospital, which is called the most comprehensive state hospital in the region. An open heart surgery was performed on a 62-year-old female patient with heart disease in Elbistan by Prof. Dr. Levent Mavioğlu working at Ankara Bilkent City Hospital and Elbistan State Hospital Cardiovascular Surgery Department. The operation which lasted for hours was successful. Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca shared the first-of-its-kind operation on his social media account: “The first open heart surgery was performed in Kahramanmaraş Elbistan State Hospital. The operation was performed together by a Professor Doctor from Ankara Bilkent City Hospital and cardiovascular surgeons from Elbistan State Hospital. Open heart surgeries will continue to be performed in the hospital. We wish the patient a quick recovery and congratulate the team.”
