"Not following these rules is to encroach upon the rights of others", said Erdogan and added that the pandemic would be over soon with caution and sensitivity.
Hospital is named after Prof Asaf Ataseven
Erdogan congratulated everyone contributing to the making of the hospital and continued, "We decided to name this hospital after Prof Asaf Ataseven. We will commemorate his name."
Delivering a speech at the opening ceremony, Minister Fahrettin Koca said that they had taken yet another step to further strengthen the healthcare system.
Noting that Turkey was stepping into a new age under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Koca added that they were very proud of President Erdogan's constant support and importance attached to healthcare.
"The risk is still out there"
Koca noted that he wanted to deliver two messages and said, "One, the risk is still out there. Normalization should not mean taking a step back from response efforts. Two, controlled social life. We must follow mask and distance rules and pay attention to hand hygiene more than ever. If we follow the measures, the threat will be eliminated. With the help of Allah, we will beat this pandemic that took away very important people from us."
“We are breaking new ground in healthcare with city hospitals”
"With these emergency hospitals and with a new vision, we are becoming more prepared to pandemics, disasters and emergencies", said Koca and added, "We are opening one city hospital after the other and breaking new ground in healthcare. Marmara University Hospital of Ministry of Health is a new but a very special ring in the chain of hospitals. It creates a new vision as it is the first hospital to be transferred to our Ministry under a protocol signed between the Ministry of Health and the University."
"Earthquake-resistant with 827 seismic isolators"
Noting that the hospital was reinforced and made earthquake-resistant with 827 seismic isolators, Koca added, "Without waiting for its completion, we have partially opened up the hospital to serve as a pandemic hospital. Once fully operational, the hospital will have 155 clinics, 535 beds -60 in ICU and 304 in single rooms- and 28 operation rooms. We are very glad to be offering this fully-equipped state-of-the-art hospital to the service of Turkish people. 3 elements lie within the core of these projects: vision, execution and service ethics. Great things have happened in our history, when these three elements come together."
