The bodies of two Turkish citizens who lost their lives at the terrorist attack in Somalia and 16 wounded Somalian victims were brought to Turkey.
The Minister of Health, Dr. Fahrettin Koca, was at the airport to welcome the plane arriving from Somalia and condemned the explosion that took place in Turkey's brotherly country, Somalia.
Koca added that following the preparations made with the Ministry of National Health, a 20-person medical team made up of the National Medical Rescue Team (UMKE) members and surgeons were dispatched to Somalia yesterday evening in an ambulance aircraft of the Turkish Armed Forces.
Stating that the bodies of two Turkish nationals, who lost their lives at the incident, and 16 injured Somalians were brought to Turkey by plane, Koca conveyed his deepest condolences to the families of Turan Sevi and Mehmet Kaplan.
Fahrettin Koca noted that Somalian government officials requested an ambulance aircraft and that the President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had been closely following and showing great interest in this matter.
"My condolences to our friendly and brotherly country, Somalia."
Indicating that Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Practice and Research Hospital, Mogadishu's most-equipped hospital, admitted 53 injured after the blast, Koca added that 19 of the wounded were receiving treatment at the said hospital.
Koca said: "I would like to express my condolences to the families of the Turkish citizens, who lost their lives. My heart goes out to our friendly and brotherly country, Somalia."
Providing information about the conditions of the injured Somalians, who were brought by plane, Koca noted that 4 out of 16 injured were receiving intensive care.
The bodies of two Turkish nationals were picked up to be delivered to their families at the hospital. The injured Somalians were referred to various hospitals for treatment.
