Minister of Health, Dr. Fahrettin Koca, delivered a statement following the Coronavirus Scientific Committee meeting.
In his statement, Koca pointed out that Turkey did its best to protect its people, chose to wage a national struggle to a global problem and took the strictest of measures to protect its people and said: "The world cannot go back days when there were no cases. The days ahead will absolutely be different, whether we want it or not. But, of course, there is a way to avoid this threat. It is to introduce temporary changes to our daily lives."
"We need further measures"
Noting that the novel coronavirus mainly spreads in social environments, Koca continued:
"We have to foster an environment that prevents transmission. Today, we have had perhaps the most important meeting with the Scientific Board. We have realized that we needed further measures to prevent transmission. We have evaluated the best international practices. I submitted the Scientific Board's recommendations to the President. He will be assessing these recommendations."

"Strict compliance with measures will turn our hopes into reality", said the Minister, adding that the more people complied with these measures the sooner we could overcome this problem.
"In the last 24 hours, we detected 2069 positive cases"
Minister also offered an update on coronavirus cases in Turkey:
"In the last 24 hours, we conducted 7533 tests, 47.823 tests cumulatively. We have detected 2069 positive cases. The total number of cases is 5698. 17 people have lost their lives today, increasing the total number to 92. Currently, 344 patients are in ICU and 241 of them are intubated. 42 patients have recovered and been discharged. This data is published on our website, as well."
