"Smoking is a threat for the public health”
While entering the hall, Dr. Demircan stated that he would collect cigarette boxes of the journalists since it was the Smoking Cessation Day and expressed that “Smoking is a threat for the public health. Smoking has no benefit at all. Our people should quit this harmful thing and get rid of it as soon as possible. We are monitoring the implementation of the relevant arrangements as well. We are also planning to introduce new arrangements. We are working on cigarette boxes. We will take all measures to make sure that these boxes do not cause advertorials and they are not easily accessible and they do not cross the minds of the smokers. Anyone who wishes to quit smoking can get assistance from “171” smoking cessation hotline. They will be provided any kind of assistance. As the whole community, we should be insisting on fighting with smoking.”
Health services in Afrin
Concerning health services in Afrin, Dr. Demircan said that “Our expert cadres were transferred to the region for any stage of the health services from referrals to the first interventions and hospital cares. Specialist professors and associated professors from Istanbul and Ankara are providing services. In particular, UMKE (National Medical Rescue Team) is very successful in delivering services. We visited them as well, there is not any problem and hopefully there will not be.”
