Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca stated that the share allocated to the city hospitals in the ministry budget is not increasing, on the contrary, it is gradually decreasing, and said, "The allegation that the city hospitals are swallowing the budget every day is either due to ignorance or is intentional."

Minister Koca responded to some allegations about the city hospitals on his social media account.

Koca said, "The share allocated to the city hospitals within the budget of the Ministry of Health is gradually decreasing, not increasing. In the 2022 budget, the share allocated to the usage fee, including services, was 14.3 percent. This rate decreased to 13.4 percent in 2023. And the rate goes down to 11.4 percent in the 2024 budget. The allegation that ‘the city hospitals are swallowing the budget every day’ is either due to ignorance or is intentional."

Stating that the city hospitals were built to cost 1465 euros per square meter today, Koca said:

"This cost includes everything from fully equipping the hospitals with state-of-the-art devices to landscaping. If they had not been built, it would not be possible to build city hospitals today with these costs. It is now completely wrong to say that the city hospitals are a burden on the public budget."
