Health Minister Dr. Fahrettin Koca was at Kartal Lütfi Kırdar Training and Research Hospital to visit the victims who were pulled from the wreckage of the 8-floor building collapsed in Kartal district.
Having received detailed information about well-being of the patients, Dr. Koca made a press statement following his visit to the hospital.
“This tragic situation that took place two days ago grieved us all. Our 15 citizens lost their lives. My condolences for the relatives of the deceased and I wish swift recovery for the injured. There are a total of 14 injured – 1 has been discharged and 13 are still at the hospital for treatment” said Health Minister.
Concerning the health condition and well-being of the patients treated at the hospital, Dr. Koca added that “Ambulances arrived at the scene at 16.02, 3 minutes after the building collapsed at 15.59. 112 staff, UMKE teams and AFAD teams as well as the doctors and healthcare professionals at the hospital have been making great efforts. Teams are still involved in removing the wreckage. We hope to save our citizens alive. I express my condolences for the whole nation. We hope not to see such tragic events again.”
