President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the First Lady Emine Erdoğan opened the TRNC Nicosia Emergency Hospital. The opening ceremony was also attended by the President of TRNC Ersin Tatar and the First Lady Sibel Tatar and the Minister of Health, Fahrettin Koca.
In his speech, President Erdoğan expressed that he was very glad to be in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) on the 37th anniversary of its foundation.
"The most important example of Turkey and TRNC's solidarity is this very hospital"
Noting that while Western countries were fighting for masks, Turkey donated medical supplies to 156 countries and 9 international organizations irrespective of their language, religion, or ethnicity, Erdoğan continued, "Our ancestors say that a good friend comes when called in good times and when uncalled in tough times. With that in mind, we have supported our brothers in the Northern Cyprus since the beginning of the pandemic. We have supported them with medication, medical devices and supplies. We provided 149 million Turkish Liras worth of contribution in kind and cash. The most important example of Turkey and TRNC's solidarity is this very hospital."
"We need support and solidarity more than ever"
The Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the Nicosia Emergency Hospital.
Celebrating the 37th anniversary of TRNC's foundation, Minister Koca remembered its founder President Rauf Denktaş.
Minister Koca said, "We need support and solidarity more than ever. We are living in a time when we experience how strong healthcare system are vital for societies."
"This hospital is not only for use in emergencies"
Koca said, "This hospital was not designed to only be used in emergencies. They will also be used outside of pandemics, earthquakes or disasters. This hospital offers great capacities for intensive care and palliative care. Advanced surgeries and invasive cardiac interventions can be performed here."
"An exceptional building block"
Koca said, "This hospital will be an exceptional building block that will further strengthen TRNC's healthcare system. I believe that this healthcare facility will serve greatly in meeting the healthcare related needs of our brothers in TRNC."
