Fuat Oktay, Deputy President, Fahrettin Koca, Minister of Health, Prof. Necdet Ünüvar, Chair of the Board of Trustees of IVEK Foundation, and many other representatives from the healthcare sector attended the first award ceremony organized by IVEK Foundation and Bio Turkey.
"We have to build our own manufacturing infrastructure and export in key areas"
Noting that developed countries had been focused on design and R&D and completely shifted manufacturing to low-cost countries like China, Oktay commented: "Trade wars and the coronavirus epidemic have proved this approach wrong. Turkey has to design, develop and produce and be able to export value-added products. We have to build our own manufacturing infrastructure and export in key areas."
“Our vision of the future in healthcare places a great responsibility on us”
In his speech, Minister Koca said:
"I wish workshops, meetings and congresses to not only be platforms that allow us to share information but also give spirit. Therefore, I believe that this Congress, which serves as a multisectoral platform, contributes greatly to this mission. Our vision of the future in healthcare places a great responsibility on us."
"Leading countries in biotechnology will make major economic gains"
Noting that the use of biotechnological agents in diagnostics and therapy was a huge success, Koca continued: "We have high expectations of biotechnology efforts in the fields of metabolical diseases, personalized medicine, drug development, and vaccine development. The use of biotechnological agents in protective health, diagnostics and therapy allows for biotechnology to have a large spectrum of working areas. Leading countries in biotechnology will advance in public health, gain scientific advantages and make major economic gains."
