Minister of Health, Dr. Fahrettin Koca, held a video conference with doctors and healthcare professionals caring for COVID-19 patients. Minister received information about the conditions of patients, who are receiving treatment in various provinces in Turkey.
Reminding that the coronavirus pandemic was threatening both the world and Turkey, Koca noted that healthcare workers were shouldering the biggest burden. Minister continued:
"Our greatest strength is our healthcare workers. I know what a tough battle you are fighting. You are working tirelessly to save lives while facing the risk yourselves. We have distributed 24 million surgical masks, over 3 million N95 masks and over 1 million protective overalls and glasses to hospitals.
The sooner we start treating a patient, the more we can delay or even prevent respiratory distress and the need for intensive care. It is important to start drug therapy as early as possible. It is of vital importance that you protect yourselves, as well."
Doctors provided Minister Koca with detailed information about COVID-19 patients at their hospitals. Doctors thanked the Minister adding that they had no problems in terms of medical equipment and protective supplies.
The two parties also shared information about therapy protocols, drug use and intensive care procedures.
