President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended the opening ceremony of Göztepe Prof. Dr. Süleyman Yalçın City Hospital. Following the ceremony, President Erdogan and Minister of Health, Fahrettin Koca, took a tour of the hospital.
In his opening speech, President Erdoğan thanked everyone participating in the opening of Göztepe Prof. Dr. Süleyman Yalçın City Hospital.
After that, President Erdoğan received detailed information from the officials about the hospital.
Following the briefing, President Erdoğan continued, "We are the ones who built this hospital but they belong to the people. We have built these hospitals with the support of our nation and they are at the service of our people."
"We are stepping into a new age of healthcare"
In his speech, Minister Koca noted that the whole world was witnessing how important healthcare systems were for the future of countries.
Noting that they added yet another hospital to Turkey's envied healthcare system, Koca added that Turkey was stepping into a new age of healthcare under the leadership of the President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Touching upon the COVID-19 pandemic, Koca said "These tough times require a strong healthcare system, a developed infrastructure and a selfless army of healthcare professionals. The burden of hospitals all across the country is getting heftier. We are proud of our healthcare personnel, who have been shouldering this burden selflessly."
Noting that Göztepe Prof. Dr. Süleyman Yalçın City Hospital was the fourth city hospital in Istanbul, Minister Koca added "We expect this hospital to fulfill an important need. The hospital has an indoor space of 177 thousand square meters and is equipped with 600 beds, 27 operating rooms and 96 ICU beds. The capacity of its clinic is 175 patients at any given time. 350 more beds will be added to its capacity later on."
