Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca evaluated the latest situation in healthcare services on his social media account. “The public share in healthcare services is increasing. The share of the private sector is decreasing. The state's share in healthcare services has increased in the last 5 years. The share of private hospitals in health expenditures decreased. In the last 5 years, the bed capacity of the hospitals affiliated with the Ministry of Health increased from 12,000 to 32,281, an increase approximately threefold. In the private sector, the number of beds increased by 1 in 9 compared to the public sector. After the White Reform, there was an increase in the number of physicians by 7,065 in the public sector and a decrease by 1,112 in the private sector. 5 years ago, 53% of surgeries were performed in hospitals affiliated with the Ministry of Health. Now this rate has increased to 55%. The private sector rate, which was 29% in 2018, decreased to 26%. While 76% of the total examinations were performed in public health institutions 5 years ago, it has now increased to 79%, and the rate of 15% in the private sector has decreased to 13%."
