31 July 2023

Health Minister Dr. Fahrettin Koca explained the details of the bill which passed the Plan and Budget Commission and aims to amend the family medicine law.

The message shared by Minister Koca on Twitter is as follows:

“The bill which was passed by the Plan and Budget Committee and aims to amend the family medicine law intends to:

- Ensure that the expenses of the Family Health Centers, including the construction, are covered by the Ministry when necessary,

- Apply the disciplinary provisions, which the civil servants are subject to, to contracted Family Physicians and Family Health Center employees instead of the scoring system cancelled by the Constitutional Court.

It also aims to organize family dentistry services and elderly healthcare services, and thus to be able to form a contract with dentists and related personnel for this purpose.

An amendment was made in the Fundamental Law on Health Services numbered 3359, which allows the specialist physicians with civil service obligation to take the Minor Specialty Exam without waiting and be exempt from half of the compulsory service period if they pass.

In other words, the new regulation means that the compulsory service of the specialist physicians who pass the minor exam is halved.”
