Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health Prof. Dr. Eyüp Gümüş paid an official visit to Georgia in order to meet with the officials of the Georgian Ministry of Health, examine the health system and attend the Urooncology Congress.
Within the framework of the visit, Undersecretary Gümüş had a meeting with Deputy Health Minister of Georgia Dr. Maia Lagvilava, and exchanged opinions on probable areas of cooperation such as health services in times of emergencies and disasters, pharmaceuticals-medical devices and medical tourism. Furthermore, it was mentioned to provide health system support for Georgia in line with the experiences of Turkey arising from the Health Transformation Program.
The two parties also talked about the city hospitals and private-public partnership, and Prof. Dr. Gümş invited Dr. Lagvilava to Turkey.
Deputy Health Minister of Georgia Dr. Maia Lagvilava stated that they closely watch the successful health system of Turkey and they need experiences of Turkey to develop the family practice system applied in Georgia for the last one year.
During his speech at the Congress, Prof. Dr. Gümüş underlined that Turkey attaches importance to unite the regional countries around the science and exchange opinions and develop mutual learning and friendship.
Prof. Dr. Gümüş expressed his wish for further development of the cooperation between two countries and added that “I would like to express my gratitude to Georgian Ministry of Health for hosting and supporting this important Congress.”
Ambassador of Turkey to Tiflis Ms. Fatma Ceren Yazgar organized a dinner in honor of the Undersecretary and the accompanying delegation. During the dinner, the steps that need to be taken to develop the current relations and cooperation were discussed.
