Minister of Health, Dr. Fahrettin Koca, met with evacuees from Wuhan, China following the end of their observation period. The Minister delivered a statement after the visit.
Minister met with 42 Turkish nationals, who were evacuated from Vuhan, China after the COVID-19 outbreak. Koca visited them as their 14-day quarantine period at Zekai Tahir Burak Hospital came to an end.
After an evacuee, Şeyma Çakır, had to celebrate her birthday alone in her hospital room, Koca had sent a message saying: "After the quarantine, we hopefully will celebrate together." And as promised, the Minister celebrated Şeyma's birthday once again.
Koca delivered a statement after the visit and said:"Today, is the day 14 of the quarantine. In line with the Scientific Board's recommendations, samples are collected every 3 days. The final samples were found to be negative."
"Quarantined guests were very pleased with their stay"
On the final day of the quarantine, Koca asked passengers how they were feeling about the quarantine and whether there was anything they did not like and continued: "They were very pleased and were treated as guests. Each of them were asked their preference of meals and they told me that the food was delicious. They said they were personally looked after. I would like to use this opportunity to thank our healthcare personnel."
"State is strong and Turkish people are selfless and generous"
Thanking the Ministry of National Defense, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and healthcare personnel, the Minister added: "You have all seen this first hand. We were the only country to specifically allocate a quarantine hospital and evacuate its citizens using an ambulance-aircraft with the help of a team of scientists and healthcare personnel. Wherever they are in the world, we will never leave Turkish people alone. The state is strong and Turkish people are selfless and generous."
