Deputy Minister of Health Prof. Dr. Emine Alp Meşe went to Kosovo on occasion of Turkey-Kosova Health Week during which Health Action Plan was signed between the Ministries of Health of Turkey and Kosovo to strengthen cooperation.
Aiming to deepen cooperation between the two countries and enable exchange of experiences, the 6th Turkey-Kosovo Health Week is taking place between 15-23 June.
The cooperation agreement signed in 2009 between the two countries aims to improve health service delivery.
Throughout the health week, the Kosovan health experts and 26 health experts from Turkey will share their experiences.
396 surgeries and 1,329 examinations were performed, and training was provided for 1256 Kosovan healthcare personnel to improve their professional capacity during the previous Health Week organizations.
Health week activities are ongoing in Pristine at the University Clinics of Kosovo (QKUK) and the Family Health Center of the Mamusha Town.
Deputy Minister of Health Prof. Dr. Emine Alp Meşe started her program in Kosovo by visiting the Consulate General of Turkey in Prizren.
33 operations and around 300 outpatient examinations were performed in two days by the medical staff from 15 areas of specialization, said Prof. Meşe.
Deputy Minister then visited the municipality and health center in Mamusha, the only Turkish municipality in Kosovo.
Health Action Plan between Turkey and Kosovo
“Cooperation Agreement in the field of Health” between Turkey and Kosovo by Deputy Minister of Health Prof. Dr. Emine alp Meşe and Secretary-General of the Ministry of Health of Kosovo Naim Bardiqi, followed by a press statement.
During her speech, Prof. Meşe touched upon various topics and said that over 800 Kosovan patients were treated in Turkey under the cooperation agreement of 2009. “This action plan focuses on health system strengthening, quality and accreditation in health services, cooperation in medicines and medical devices, health tourism and health weeks.” Prof. Meşe added.
Bardiqi, on the other hand, stressed that his country benefited from the 2009 cooperation agreement in the field of health and said that “One of the key points of the action plan will be the preparation of a national plan for the accreditation of health institutions in Kosovo”.
Following the signing ceremony, Deputy Minister Prof. Meşe visited the Pristine University Hospital where the health week is taking place.
In the afternoon, Prof. Meşe visited the tomb of the 3rd Ottoman Sultan Murad Hüdavendigar and the tomb of Adem Jashari, the national hero of Kosovo, and finally met with the Minister of Public Administration Mahir Yağcılar.
