Deputy Minister of Health Prof. Dr. Emine Alp Meşe attended the Launch Meeting for Turkey Zoonotic Diseases Action Plan organized by Turkish National Committee for Zoonotic Diseases. Deputy Minister of Health Prof. Dr. Emine Alp Meşe and Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Fatih Metin delivered opening speeches for the meeting held in Bilkent Campus of the Ministry of Health. Defined as "diseases transmitted from animals to humans," the zoonotic diseases are quite common in Turkey and in the whole world. “We are entering a new era with the Action Plan” Turkish National Committee for Zoonotic Diseases was established under the leadership of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and the Ministry of Health, to ensure cooperation between different institutions and sectors, and the Turkey Zoonotic Diseases Action Plan 2019-2023 was prepared with the ultimate goal of reducing the prevalence of zoonotic diseases in Turkey and improve the quality of life of the society. “Through this action plan, we are entering a new era in our fight against especially Crimean Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF), rabies, brucellosis, anthrax, tularemia, hydatid cyst and toxoplasmosis and other zoonotic infections” added Prof. Alp Meşe. "National Committee of Zoonotic Diseases laid down working conditions, plan, projects and principles to ensure effective cooperation and adoption of protection and control measures against zoonotic diseases. Zoonotic Diseases Sub-Boards were created. Widespread zoonotic diseases in Turkey were taken into consideration during creation of these sub-boards. Firstly, sub-boards were established for CCHF, Rabies, Brucellosis, Anthrax, Tularemia, Cyst Hydatid and Toxoplasmosis and Other Zoonotic Infections. The sub-boards completed their work and the 'Turkey Zoonotic Diseases Action Plan 2019-2023' was prepared accordingly. The action plan is focused on zoonotic diseases that are a public health problem for our country and on the zoonoses that may be a threat in the near future” concluded Deputy Minister.
