The Ministry of Health takes even more precautions against the novel coronavirus outbreak that has spread all around the world and claimed the lives of thousands of people. The ministry has now started using diagnostic kits that can give results in 15 minutes.
As per the recommendation of the Scientific Board, the MoH increased the number of tests performed to curb the spread of the virus.
Now, to diagnose COVID-19, the rapid diagnostic kit that gives results in 15 minutes will be made use of in addition to another kit that gives results in 60 to 90 minutes.
After the announcement of the Minister of Health at TGNA, on the distribution of the rapid test kit to all provinces in Turkey, the Ministry started working.
This rapid diagnostic kit was supplied and introduced at the Virology Laboratory of the DG of Public Health.
Microbiologist Dr. Yasemin Coşkun said that the rapid diagnostic kit analyzed swabs collected from the mouth or nose.
Noting that the test could be used nearly anywhere, especially in emergency services, Coşkun added that the kit had a high reliability.
