The Deputy Minister of Health Prof. Sabahattin Aydın attended the ceremony, which was held as a video conference on the occasion of the second phase of the SIHHAT Project under The European Union Facility for Refugees in Turkey (FRIT).
The ceremony, which was chaired by the Head of the EU Delegation to Turkey Ambassador Nicolas Meyer-Landrut, was attended by the Deputy Minister of Family, Labor and Social Security Dr. Adnan Ertem, FRIT Coordinator at the Presidency Halil Afşarata, and the representatives of relevant institutions.
Deputy Minister Aydın delivered a speech at the ceremony and offered information about the healthcare services provided in Turkey to migrants.
Noting that the majority of these services were being offered by Turkey's means, Aydın continued:
"We also receive support from some brotherly states and international organizations to improve the healthcare services albeit not as much as we hope to. Without a doubt, the most important support is the one provided under the Facility for Refugees in Turkey launched by the European Union in 2016."
Mentioning the achievements of the SIHHAT Project, Deputy Aydın added, "On the occasion of this signature ceremony under the coordination of the Presidency, we will start SIHHAT-2 and Investment Projects under FRIT-2 supported by the European Union Delegation to Turkey. The aim of the SIHHAT-2 Project is to continue the support offered to our Syrian brothers and sisters under the previous project, to generate evidence-based solutions to their health problems and to offer multi-sectoral consultation services."
Expressing his belief that the project will make positive contributions to the health of migrants in Turkey, Aydın concluded, "The goal of the Health Investments component is to improve the migrant health service capacity and to contribute to the sustainability of these services."
