Minister of Health, Dr. Fahrettin Koca joined the G20 Health Ministers Meeting organized by Italy online. Delivering a speech at the session entitled "Assessing the impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Global Health and Sustainable Development Goals", Koca noted the continued devastating impact of the pandemic on human health. "We need to adopt a renewed long-term vision that includes achieving universal health coverage as the main goal of health-related SDGs. Because the pandemic has clearly revealed the injustices in accessing healthcare as a major problem, it has inevitably made it necessary to adopt equality-based and human-centered approaches in the construction of healthcare systems." said Koca and point out that the need to focus more on strengthening the management of chronic diseases within the scope of primary healthcare services as a facilitating solution. Noting that building human-centered healthcare that is based on values, patient safety, and high quality was a right for any society, Koca added that important responsibilities fell upon G20 countries. At the end of the meeting, the Declaration of Health Ministers was adopted.
