09 June 2021

At eTurkiye (eTR) Awards Ceremony, organized by TÜSIAD and the Turkish Informatics Foundation, the Ministry of Health received two awards for the third time in a row.

The Life Fits Home Application (HES), which has been the most important practice in combating the COVID-19 pandemic, received the “Best Practice Award from the Public to the People” and the Contact-Tracing and Isolation Tracking System (FITAS) received the Special Enocta Award.

The eTurkiye (eTR) Awards Ceremony, organized by TUSIAD and the Turkish Informatics Foundation, delivered 6 awards under the category of public agencies and local administrations.

In the category “From the Public to Citizens” under the public agencies category, the Ministry of Health received another award in addition to the previous ones it received from the e-Pulse system and the Barrier-Free Health Communication Center.

While the Life Fits Home Application received the “Best Practice Award from the Public to the People”, FITAS, which has been used by contact-tracing teams during the pandemic, received the Special Enocta Award.

Attending the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Health Dr. Şuayip Birinci received the awards from the Director of the Turkish Informatics Foundation, Çağdaş Ergin, and the Chair of the Executive Board of the Turkish Informatics Foundation, Faruk Eczacıbaşı.

Birinci said, "This application, which was developed in a very short period of time, matters grately in terms of the technological level we are at. As the Ministry of Health, we are proud to develop high-tech products locally and nationally on behalf of our country. I  receive these awards on behalf of our team-mates who work with us behind the scenes, our contact-tracing teams who work in the field, and especially on behalf of our healthcare workers who have lost their lives while caring for patients during the pandemic, in short on behalf of the entire healthcare family."

Life Fits Home Application

After the first case of COVID-19 was detected in Turkey on March 11, 2020, digital applications have become an important pillar of the response of the Ministry of Health.

Launched on April 10, 2020, a month after the detection of the first case, the Life Fits Home mobile app contributed to raising awareness of people about COVID-19.

Contact-Tracing and Isolation Tracking System (FITAS)

FITAS was launched on 18 April. Contact-tracing teams in 81 provinces, carried out contact-tracing-related activities using the FITAS application by scanning the information of cases and contacts using mobile devices. This allowed the prevention of the spread of the disease through field efforts and the early diagnosis of those in the high risk group.
