Minister of Health, Dr. Fahrettin Koca delivered a press statement following the Regional Assessment Meeting covering the provinces of Edirne, Kırklareli, Tekirdağ and Çanakkale in Edirne.
First, Minister Koca visited Governor Ekrem Canalp during his program in Edirne. Koca talked to the press after the visit.
"We are seeing the outcomes of the sacrifices we are making"
Noting that going into a full lockdown remained the final option due to the recent increase in the number of COVID-19 cases, Minister Koca continued, "We are seeing the outcomes of the sacrifices we are making. The number of cases and hospitalizations are going down. We will soon see a decline also in severe cases and deaths. I ask everyone to comply with the measures and thank you for your efforts."

While in Edirne for the regional evaluation meeting, Minister Koca paid a visit to Edirne Sultan 1. Murat State Hospital. Here, Koca chatted with patients.
After the visit, Koca, moved onto the regional evaluation meeting covering Edirne, Kırklareli, and Tekirdağ, Çanakkale.
Delivering a speech after the meeting, Koca noted that they covered in detail the situation in Edirne, Kırklareli, Tekirdağ, and Çanakkale.
Koca offered information about the Coronavirus response efforts in Edirne, Kırklareli, Tekirdağ, and Çanakkale and said, "In Edirne, we have 98 contact tracing teams. Compared to last week, there was a 50 percent drop in the number of cases in Edirne. The bed occupancy rate in Edirne is 52 percent. And the intensive care occupancy rate is 66 percent."
Koca said that there were 224 contact tracing teams in Tekirdağ and added,"In Tekirdağ, the number of cases has declined by 40 percent. The bed occupancy rate is 60 percent and the intensive care occupancy rate is 74 percent. In Tekirdağ, the vaccination rate of citizens over the age of 65 is 85 percent. 135 contact tracing teams are on the field in Çanakkale. Here, the number of cases has declined by 50 percent. The bed occupancy rate is 42 percent. 69 percent of the ICU beds are occupied. In the Thrace region, the province with the highest vaccination rate of citizens over the age of 65 iş Çanakkale with 88.2 percent. We have 139 contact tracing teams in Kırklareli. In Kırklareli, the case decline rate is 35 percent. The bed occupancy rate is quite low at 33 percent. The ICU occupancy rate is 58 percent. In Kırklareli, the vaccination rate of citizens over the age of 65 is 86 percent.”
Mentioning the city hospital in Tekirdağ, Koca said,"We tendered the Ergene District State Hospital. We are starting construction with site delivery. The 100-bed state hospital started to be built by the organized industrial zone directorate with the support of philanthropic industrialists. We completed the construction of Çan State Hospital in Çanakkale in April. It will be furnished and commissioned on June 15. We will complete the construction of Gökçeada Hospital this year and put it into service. We are starting the construction of Biga oral and dental health center. We started the construction of Kırklareli health complex. Also, we are planning and developing projects for many healthcare facilities, such as 112 emergency stations, healthy living centers, and family health centers needed in Edirne, Tekirdağ, Çanakkale, and Kırklareli."
