Minister of Health, Dr. Fahrettin Koca, had separate meetings with the Secretary of State for Health & Social Care, Matt Hancock, and the Minister of Health of the Russian Federation, Dr. Mikhail Murashko. The parties discussed possible areas of cooperation in the COVID-19 response.
Knowledge and experiences were shared. Ministers of both countries thanked Minister Koca for medical supplies they received from Turkey.
Koca spoke with the British minister on the phone while having a video conference with the Russian minister. Mr. Hancock expressed his gratitude to the Turkish government for sending protective equipment, which were the most needed items by the UK. "You have helped the UK greatly. Turkey has become our biggest supplier in this process" said Hancock adding that they would like to continue this close cooperation. Mr. Murashko also thanked Turkey for the medical supplies purchased from Turkey.
Stressing the need for global cooperation and solidarity during these extraordinary times, Koca provided detailed information to his counterparts about Turkey's treatment procedures. To date, Turkey has provided medical supplies to 53 countries, including Germany, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, United Kingdom, Iran, China, TRNC, Palestine, Spain, Italy, Somalia, Serbia, and Tunisia.
