Türkiye-Azerbaijan Health Business Forum and Fair in Baku


Health Minister Dr. Fahrettin Koca attended the opening ceremony of the Türkiye-Azerbaijan Health Business Forum and Fair. In Baku, Dr. Koca was received by the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and held a bilateral meeting with his counterpart Dr. Teymur Musayev.

In his speech, Dr. Koca referred to Türkiye and Azerbaijan as two important regional powers which act with the motto of “One nation, two states” and harbor brotherly feelings for one another.

Underlining that the Turkish investments in Azerbaijan exceeded $12 billion, and the Azerbaijani investments in Türkiye were above $20 billion, and the bilateral trade volume was around $5 billion, Dr. Koca reiterated his conviction that such events as Health Business Forum would make important contributions to the target of $15 billion-trade volume set by the Presidents of the two countries, and proposed to organize similar events, in the coming years, with the participation of the members of the Organization of Turkic States – Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Turkmenistan and Hungary as well as the other Turkish speaking countries.

On the other hand, Dr. Teymur Musayev touched upon the good relations between Türkiye and Azerbaijan in the field of health, and mentioning the support of Türkiye at the time of pandemic ad the 2nd Karabakh War, he expressed his appreciation for the Turkish doctors that treated the Azerbaijani war veterans.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received Minister of Health Dr. Fahrettin Koca, who is in Baku to attend the Türkiye-Azerbaijan Health Business Forum.

During the meeting, President Aliyev emphasized that the relations between the two countries are constantly developing in all areas. Stating that the Shusha Declaration reflects the interests of the peoples and states of Türkiye and Azerbaijan, Aliyev thanked for the treatment of Azerbaijani veterans by Turkish doctors during and after the war.

On the other hand, Minister Koca said that the unshakable bonds of unity and brotherhood between the heads of state of Azerbaijan and Türkiye are a guide for cooperation between the ministries of health, as well as all other institutions, and that the ministries of the two countries are in close cooperation in the field of health.

On occasion of the meeting, Dr. Koca expressed their satisfaction for having realized the Health-Business Forum, one of the most important elements of the Action Plan signed in May. Minister Koca and Minister Musayev agreed to strengthen cooperation in areas such as health systems, emergency health services, health information systems and health education.

During the meeting, new projects were also discussed in order to improve the existing relations in the field of health between the two countries.
