The School Milk Program, which was started to boost drinking milk and consuming healthy and balanced nutrition habits of primary school students, continues in the 7th year. 200 ml milk packs will be distributed to 6 million students in 32 thousand schools under the programme with the aim of providing better nutrition for them.
The second semester of 2017-2018 academic year has started.
Dr. Ahmet DEMIRCAN, Minister of Health and İsmet YILMAZ, Minister of Education, attended the opening ceremony of the School Milk Program at Muazzez Karacay Primary School.
Speaking in the program, Dr. Demircan wished mercy from Allah (SWT) for martyrs and fast recovery to veterans of Operation Olive Branch in Afrin, Syria.
We will pay attention to milk consumption
Dr. Demircan said that we start consuming milk from the moment we come to life, so milk is extremely important and if we consume enough, we will be fed healthy. Healthy eating means healthy body and healthy generations.
Dr. Demircan stated that Turkey has taken a very important step in this sense and also expressed his satisfaction with the point reached production of milk and delivering to children.
Dr. Demircan said, "Our students in primary and secondary schools, reaching almost 17 million, are the guarantee of our future. We try to keep them away from flour, sugar and salt. We have to consume enough level of milk. We will pay attention to milk consumption."
Dr. Demircan point out that healthy eating and active life style are another area to pay attention. Today’s digital media games can keep us away from an active life style. Unfortunately, we face some problems due to unhealthy eating habits, so we will pay attention to this issue as well. Milk supports us at this point. We dont face this kind of problems as long as we consume milk and dairy products.
255 million boxes of milk will be delivered
Ismet Yilmaz said "Today, the second semester starts with more than 18 million students and over 1 million and 71 thousand teachers at more than 65,000 schools. We are launching the school milk program. May it be blessed!"
Yilmaz stated that this programme started to boost drinking milk and consuming healthy and balanced nutrition habits of primary school students and has entered the 7th year. Approximately one and a half billion boxes of milk have been distributed to students so far and 255 million boxes of milk will be distributed to 6 million kindergarten, kindergarten and first grade students at public and private schools.
