Visit by Dr. Orhan Gümrükçüoğlu, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, to Azerbaijan (29 October-1 November 2008)

Headed by Dr. Orhan Gümrükçüoğlu, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, a delegation of our Ministry, consisting of Prof. Dr. Nihat Tosun, Deputy Undersecretary, Kamuran Özden, Head of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Assoc. Prof. Dr. İrfan Şencan, Chief Physician of Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt Training and Research Hospital and Azerbaijan Coordinator of our Ministry, paid a visit to Azerbaijan on 29 October-1 November 2008. The purpose of the visit was to evaluate the collaboration activities with Azerbaijan for the next term and to make observations in various health institutions.

During the aforementioned visit bilateral meetings with H.E. Oktay Shiraliyev, the Minister of Health of Azerbaijan and representatives of Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan and, in this context, our delegation shared Turkish experience in several fields such as “Health Transformation Programme”, “Family Medicine”, “112 Emergency Services” and “National Rescue Teams”, the fields which have witnessed a significant progress in Turkey in the recent years.

After the said meetings, our delegation visited Medical Clinic Centre and was briefed about the Centre.

On 31 October 2008 Wednesday, our delegation visited Baku Paediatric Health Centre No: 1, and then Azerbaijan Medical University.

Finally, our delegation visited Zira Diagnostic Centre on 1 November 2008.
